  • Grapes are the most planted fruit all over the world. A ton of grapes can be produced into 720 bottles of wine. To quench their thirst, people drank wine instead of water centuries ago. During that time, water wasn't clean all the time, and natural fermentation, when the wine is made, could kill germs caused by typhi (salmonella) and cholera. Apparently, some people have a "fear of wine," and it's called oenophobia. During the early Roman times, it was forbidden for women to drink wine.

  • Puppies are born blind and deaf.....They actually can’t see or hear until they’re almost two weeks old and they don’t even open their eyes before then! Until they are able to see and hear, puppies rely on their sense of smell to find their mom. They spend 15–20 hours a day sleeping. That’s not too unusual because human babies also spend about 16 hours a day sleeping. Puppies become ‘adults’ when they turn one. That’s about the same as 15 human years.

  • Mice can squeeze through the tiniest of gaps.....By flattening out their bodies, mice are able to squeeze through gaps as small as 6mm. That’s roughly the size of a pencil! Because of this, when it comes to preventing mice, it’s advised that you fully inspect your property for any gaps and holes and fill these in using expanding foam or wire wool.

  • The Food truck industry is now $2 billion-plus in estimated revenue in cities across the U.S. Compared to 2014, the industry’s overall revenue has grown 300% in the last three years. Food truck growth is even outpacing overall commercial foodservice, such as restaurants, at a growth of 5.4 percent versus 4.3 percent. Many restaurants, however, are jumping on the mobile trend, establishing their own satellite food truck restaurants with limited, more casual or fun menu items.

  • Modern Speed Bumps Were Invented by a Renowned Physicist. An early form of speed bumps was implemented in Chatham, New Jersey in 1906. Workers raised crosswalks five inches to reduce drivers’ speed. However, modern speed bumps were introduced in the 1950s. After winning the Nobel Prize for discoveries in electromagnetic theory, Arthur Holly Compton noticed a problem that was unrelated to his field of expertise. Drivers frequently sped past Washington University, where he worked. In 1953, he designed the first speed bump, which he called a “traffic control bump.”
